A total of 85 distinct conference organizations were identified. These organizations consisted of 33 (38.8%) sub-specialties, 22 (25.9%) states, 22 (25.9%) general urologies, and eight (9.4%) AUA section conference organizations. Of these organizations, 55 (64.7%) held an event annually during the study period, 19 (22.4%) held an event three out of the four years evaluated, and six (7.1%) held only one event during the study period. Of note, the six society meetings that were held only one year were mostly sub-specialty organizations (five, 83.3%) with one general urology organization (one, 16.7%) (Table 1). Each AUA section held a conference annually.

Over the four years of interest, these 85 organizations held 293 events. The overall number of events is slowly increasing by year, with 64 in 2022, 71 in 2023, 79 in 2024, and 79 in 2025. Events were held more commonly in the fall with 116 (39.6%), followed by spring with 74 (25.3%), winter with 62 (21.2%), and, finally, summer with 41 (14.0%) (Table 2, Figure 1). The states with the highest numbers of events were Texas with 31 (10.6%), California with 30 (10.2%), Arizona with 21 (7.2%), Colorado with 21 (7.2%), and Florida with 20 (6.8%) (Figure 2). Twelve states did not host any urology conference events during the study period. When analyzed by AUA section, the Western Section held the most events (77), followed by the Southeast (73) and South Central (66) Sections. Conferences were often hosted in the same cities, most notably Scottsdale, Arizona (13), Chicago, Illinois (12), and San Diego, California (12) being among the top cities (Figure 3).

The duration of the events ranged from one to seven days, with an average duration of 3.12 days (SD 1.17). The duration of events was significantly different by organization type (p < 0.001). Duration was the longest for AUA section meetings with an average (±SD) of 4.22 ± 1.34 days and lowest for state society meetings (2.29 ± 0.82 days). Event duration has not significantly changed over the four years (p = 0.659) but has shown a slight increase over time from 3.08 ± 1.11 days in 2022 to 3.25 ± 1.17 days in 2025. There was a significant difference in duration by season (p = 0.001), with fall events lasting the longest (3.37 ± 1.10 days) and spring events being the shortest (2.72 ± 1.08 days). There was a significant difference in event duration by region (p = 0.002 when excluding international events), with the north central region having significantly shorter events (2.53 ± 1.25 days) and the western region having the longest events (3.37 ± 1.02 days). When considering international events, they were significantly longer than all U.S. functions (5.15 ± 1.63 days; p < 0.001).
