Treatment was aimed at providing symptomatic relief from degranulation, with a histamine type-2 receptor antagonist (ranitidine 300 mg daily) initially used, and she subsequently trialed a maximum-dose proton pump inhibitor (pantoprazole 40 mg daily), resulting in improved gastrointestinal symptoms.
