Y-STR genotyping

All samples were genotyped for 23 Y-STRs using the PowerPlex Y23 kit (PPY23), following the manufacturer’s recommendations (Promega Corporation, Madison, WI). Amplified fragments were separated and detected on a 3500 Genetic Analyzer and genotyped using the GeneMapper™ Software v4.1 (Applied Biosystems).
