Menstrual cycle phase appears to have modest effects on resistance training performance. Estimated differences (m·s−1) between the observed and expected values are ~ 0.01–0.02 m·s−1 within each phase.
Self-reported motivation to train appears to have a tangible effect on resistance training performance, while perceived readiness to perform was not associated with changes in barbell velocity during training.
Symptoms associated with the menstrual cycle have little effect on training performance. However, pain can influence training performance, but responses may differ dependent upon exercises.
