Therefore, clinicians should maintain suspicion for squamous cell carcinoma even when classic risk factors are absent. In lesions that fail to respond to conventional therapies or yield non-diagnostic biopsies, careful site selection or repeat targeted sampling should be pursued to avoid diagnostic delays.
