This exploratory study shows that ImageJ can be used for objective and repeatable morphometric and grayscale texture analysis in relation to postmortem injuries. Differences between the injury groups were statistically significant with respect to parameters such as area, perimeter, solidity, and gray-level SD. These differences indicate the potential use of these parameters as additional indicators. Still, all findings are merely exploratory and cannot be taken as definitive evidence. The use of ImageJ analysis should be seen as a complement to, but not a substitute for, visual analysis conducted by a forensic expert.
