A flexible IPEP was successfully integrated into routine radiation oncology workflows and was associated with improved patient-reported understanding and reduced care plan-related anxiety in this pilot randomized study. These findings support the potential value of patient-centered immersive educational approaches integrated into radiation oncology practice. The relatively low-cost and adaptable nature of this intervention may facilitate future implementation across a variety of radiation oncology settings. Larger multi-institutional studies are warranted to further evaluate the effectiveness of immersive educational programs, their impact on patient experience, and their potential influence on clinical workflow outcomes.
