Considering the findings of the present study, the addition of autogenous bone to β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) in maxillary sinus floor elevation did not enhance histological bone formation after 10 months of healing compared with β-TCP alone. However, the stability of β-TCP alone appeared to be influenced by the initial residual bone height, with lower residual bone height being associated with greater graft volume reduction. Therefore, β-TCP alone may represent a viable alternative after prolonged healing, whereas the potential advantage of autogenous bone in cases with limited residual bone height or during earlier healing periods remains to be investigated.
