Colitis can be seen due to a myriad of etiologies, including infectious, inflammatory, radiation, ischemic, and chemical. Ethanol-induced colitis is rare and can lead to catastrophic complications, especially with concomitant overdose. Dual toxicologic processes can exacerbate the inflammatory response, leading to clinical complications for individuals using ethanol enemas. Supportive care remains the standard care, with monitoring for the development of any complications.
